Your student's project could be an award winner! Encourage your students with an existing environmental stewardship project or an idea for a project to apply so that their achievements can be further recognized. Applicants from all 50 states as well as U.S. territories are eligible to compete for a national Presidential award. Applications are due no later than Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

The contest is free to enter and open to middle and high school students worldwide. We ask students to think critically about global environmental and social issues, sharing their ideas for a solution in a 60-second video with prizes up to $1,200.

This year’s topics are: Child Wellbeing, Rainforest Ecosystems, and Sanitation. We hope you'll help us spread the word to students and educators as it is a great opportunity to use project based learning with environmental education and filmmaking!

Join the summer 2024 Youth Conservation Corps Cohort! The King County Parks Youth Conservation Corps are looking for high schoolers interested in learning about parks and environmental careers. The YCC aims to build pathways for a new generation of park and environmental leaders through a paid 6-week summer internship program.

The 2024 program dates are Monday, July 8 - Thursday, August 15 every Monday-Thursday. Each week interns work 22 hours and meet daily on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Thurnau Park in White Center. On Thursday interns meet via zoom from their personal computer. Interns are expected to attend the entire program. More information and a link to the application can be found at www.kcpyouthcorps.org. Applications are due by April 21, 2024. The website includes helpful tips for the application.

An environmental education non-profit founded and led by youth in 10 chapters across the county. A Tomorrow Project Club is a team of high school environmentalists working to bring environmentalism to their school district and local community. Clubs consist of at least 4 members from the same high school. They bring environmental education to their school districts in many ways. United Student Leaders (USL), based on South Whidbey Island, focuses on uplifting youth voices around climate action, equity, educational reform, intersectionality, and social justice issues that its members are passionate about. Learn more and get involved here.

Through AmeriCorps, our WCC program provides hands-on experience, field skills, and training opportunities to young adults between 18 and 25 and military veterans. We work in partnership with nonprofit and governmental organizations that apply for WCC crews or individual placement members to complete projects.
